What is a Seder?
A 'Seder Meal' is the traditional Jewish meal which recalls the Passover. It was on the night that the Hebrew people, still enslaved in Egypt, were led by God through the Red Sea into freedom. Moses directed the people to eat in haste: Unleavened bread and a sacrificial lamb were the main elements of the meal.
Why Come to Seder?
Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples at the Last Supper. During the meal, Jesus became the new Sacrificial Lamb for his Passover – His sacrifice that freed humanity’s passage from death to life. This Seder meal ritual was adapted by a Catholic Theologian and a Jewish Rabbi to be both true to the form and illuminate the aspects of the traditional meal that are fulfilled by Jesus and reflected in our Mass today.
How: We will celebrate the Seder meal with the traditional Seder foods served as a symbolic meal. The parish will provide the ritual foods - lamb, beverages, etc. Halfway through the Seder we will share in a potluck dinner.
Please bring the following to serve 10-12 people according to your last name initial:
We hope this will be a spiritually educational experience to heighten the fullness of Holy Week and all that it offers us.
We need your help in completing the Reservation Form below. The ritual meal is FREE, but we will need to know the information as accurately as possible for seating and preparing foods.
