In a busy world like today where time is of the essence, we invest our time and efforts wisely, so that we can reap a good harvest. But are we truly wise, if God is not the center of it all? In Psalm 127 we read, “If the Lord doesn’t build the house, the builders are working for nothing. If the Lord doesn’t guard the city, the guards are watching for nothing. It is no use for you to get up early and stay up late working for a living.”
If the Lord must be a part of everything, can Jesus be invited to be a part of everywhere we go and every action? Do we feel comfortable or are there areas in our life that He cannot draw near? What is it that stops us from inviting him in such situations – Fear of our failures, our judgements (Mathew 7: 1-3), or our beliefs itself? Are we like apostle Thomas that doubted and need to see to believe? Do we want miracles to happen to have Faith? Know that Giving precedes Receiving. If so, what are we giving the Lord to work with so that we may see miracles in our lives?
For a miracle to happen, we see it calls for Faith and some action that must be taken or something to be offered to the Lord for Him to work the miracle. Faith being the key ingredient. For example, when Mary comes to Jesus when they ran out of wine at the wedding in Canna -- she returns to them saying “do what he tells you” – Their obedience in following what the Lord asked of them to fill the jars with water, caused water to become wine. Of course, even then they surely knew how to make wine and the process etc. But, they fought the flesh in arresting their intelligence and were obedient, knowing that His word had power to change everything. They believed in Him completely. Does believing completely body, mind, and soul cause miracles? The start to Faith is belief. When we believe, we trust and when we trust it instills Faith.
At Mass, we do what the Lord has asked us to do in obedience. But, are we doing it in Faith, believing body, mind, and soul? If we are, then our belief causes us to be blessed with graces for the Spirit to move in us every time we consume the Eucharist. In Faith, the bread and wine becomes for us the Body and Blood of Christ.
Know this “A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life (Galations 6:7-10). So, lets sow good in fertile soil (Church) that we may reap a good harvest together. If we don’t sow today, will there be a harvest to reap tomorrow as time goes by?
Our Father is a perfect gentleman who has blessed us with free will. He loves us so much that He sent His only Son to give us the truth and reveal to us how to live this life so that it may be Heaven on Earth. So, do we wake up each day feeling like we are in Heaven or do we feel burdened as if in bondage to our circumstances? If it does not feel like Heaven, here’s God’s call to you – “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Mathew 11; 28-29) Our Lord does not need anything from us, yet; He always blesses the heart that loves Him and believes in Him. Its that little Faith that causes the miracles.
Let’s work together in Gods house as workers in the vineyard sowing in fertile soil (Church). There are many ministries in our Parish that are looking for volunteers. The harvest is plenty but the workers are few. Join any ministry that you feel called to serve and sow as one holy family that we may find treasure together in love.
