The Lord’s purpose in His coming was to bring healing to His people. He came that the old may go and the new may come. That which was lost in disobedience (Eve) was to be overcome in obedience (Mother Mary) so that we may find healing. If this is true, how do we experience this healing in our lives? What can we learn from Mother Mary and Our Lord?
Surrender Will
Mary embraced the Holy Spirit in saying ‘yes’. No virgin had ever given birth to a child. The world was not going to believe her story. Yet, she believed. Believing the Lord may cause us to be misunderstood in the world. But when we remind ourselves that Our God keeps His promises, Faith kicks in to bring forth a miracle. It helps us embrace His plan saying, “Not my will but yours be done.”
Embrace Courage
Trust the Lord and understand - “Fear is a Liar.” Embrace courage and say ‘yes’ to His call. Allow the Holy Spirit to move and know that change is inevitable. Following the Lord’s call in Faith and obedience may seem foolish to those that don’t believe. So, the Lord says, “Blessed are those that have not seen and yet believe.” We are blessed.
Make Effort to Give of Oneself
The Lord has blessed each one of us with different talents. He made each one unique. It makes us feel important that we have something that the other does not. So when we are good at something, does it cause us to flaunt in pride and make the others insecure or do we follow the Lords footsteps in teaching and giving what we have to the other in humility that they may go before us? John the Baptist was a forerunner to the Lord. Mother Mary sought to give of herself completely that the world may know her son. They did it for love. Do we love one another in sincerity? Or, are we afraid of losing our importance? Teaching only makes us become better and in our giving we only receive more grace to soar higher.
Forgive
To be able to forgive those that cause pain seems impossible as we are human. But, as we desire to do His will and make efforts. His grace achieves the impossible. We can then love those who hate us too. He gives us strength and His protection covers us even when we walk through the valley of death.
The Lord says, “Judge not and you will not be judged.” We live in a world that is judging. The Lord sees our hearts and knows our faults, yet he forgives us in love. All he asks of us is to do the same. Knowing that we have been forgiven, can we forgive too? To more that is given, more is expected. Are we those people that have received more grace?
We pray, “only say the Word Lord and my soul shall be healed.” When our Words lift one another in encouragement, it causes us to pick ourselves up and try again believing - All things are possible with God. In praying the Peace prayer of St Francis – Lord make me a channel of your peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love, where there is injury pardon; may we be the healing we seek.
