Our annual youth fundraising dinner, Holy Smokes is coming up on January 30th. Due to the unavailability of crab, we won’t be having a Crab Feed, but instead will be serving barbecue Tri-Tip and Chicken. Tickets are $30 and are available in the parish office, and
online. We are looking for more adult and teen volunteers to help with this event.
Changes to Crab Feed 2016
Our annual youth fundraiser is just around the corner on January 30th, and unfortunately we’re having to make some changes this year. Traditionally we have had an all you can eat crab feast to support all the different youth programs of our parish. However this year due to high levels of domoic acid in Dungeness and rock crab, the crab fisheries have been closed. “Closure of the fisheries shall remain in effect until the Director of the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), in consultation with the Director of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), determines that domoic acid levels no longer pose a significant risk to public health.”
Rather than wait and pray that crab might be available, we have decided to step away from our crab feed this year. This doesn’t mean we won’t be having our annual event; just that we are changing up the menu. We will be calling it Holy Smokes and be serving barbecue tri-tip and chicken, as well as salad, potatoes and much more. We will also be including a silent auction and a dessert auction.
This event is our major youth fundraiser for the year, and our teens from EDGE and Life Teen are very excited to be your servers again during the meal. Holy Smokes will help pay for many events throughout the year including: Holy Family EDGE and Life Teen Retreats, the Diocesan Youth Retreat (DYR) at Lake Tahoe, Life Teen Summer Camp, Life Teen Inspiration at Magic Mountain, Life Teen Empower (Core team training), and much much more.
We are planning an exciting new event, and thank you all very much for your continued generosity and support throughout the many years of Crab Feeds. We are accepting donations for our silent auction in the parish office, and will be selling tickets during the month of January outside the church after mass, in the parish office, and online at,
