This Sunday, we will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as the Feast of Meeting, the Purification of Mary, and Candlemas—a day often referred to as a festival of light.
To honor this special feast, there will be a blessing of candles at the start of every Mass this weekend, February 1–2. This blessing invites God, the true light, to pour “into the hearts of the faithful the brilliance of perpetual light.”
We invite all households who wish to have a candle blessed to bring one to Mass this weekend and place it at the designated table by the sanctuary before the start of the service.
